Original text

Poem

like a killing needle
through the nape
it feels each time

each time rediscovering
the animal from the flesh
down to the bones

learning what impulsive
twitches occur when
emotive needles tweak

cause and effect
from barbaric youth cum innocent unbound

transformed to
sophomoric teen cum myopic romantic

transformed to
corporate man cum pragmatic fool

transformed to
entreprenurial philanthropic

and celibate maniac
cumming in the mind

when it ends I will
both damn and praise

the Holder of life’s
fixating fluids.

Song lyrics

Like a needle in the nape, sharp pain on replay,
Every hit I take, it rewinds yesterday.
Diggin’ through the skin, animal in the frame,
From the marrow to the muscle—learnin’ impulse, learnin’ game.

Needles tweak emotions, cause sparks, chain reactions,
Barbaric youth wild, actin’ out with no captions.
Then I flipped teen years, sophomoric, so blind,
Romance in my head, but illusions in my mind.

Hook (Chorus)
Pain makes the lesson, needle makes the rule,
Every stage of my life—beast, lover, then fool.
Masks on rotation, can’t break from the tool,
But the needle in the nape still keepin’ me schooled.

Corporate man in the suit, tie tight, mind cold,
Pragmatic with the script, but the spirit got sold.
Chasin’ checks, losin’ breath, lost track of the youth,
Every phase just a page, but the ink bleeds truth.

Reborn in the moment, each sting a design,
Rediscover who I am when the pain realigns.
From the flesh to the bone, every scar been a sign,
That the needle’s in my neck but the voice still mine.

Hook (Chorus)
Pain makes the lesson, needle makes the rule,
Every stage of my life—beast, lover, then fool.
Masks on rotation, can’t break from the tool,
But the needle in the nape still keepin’ me schooled.
